Sex, Lies and Broken Promises: Battered SilverSpooners Speak Out

“…this SilverSpoon model, if it goes as planned, could be the next generation of learning. Truly ingenious. And plus, it’s highly scalable. Silverspoon + Khan Academy = optimized learning.”

“Too many times I have lost focus, pushed myself too hard, or just simply slacked off. With the SilverSpoon program, I actually let Khatz do the worrying for me. I trust his judgment, but I also can see exactly where he is coming from and why he tells us to do the things he does.”

“I LOVE shadowing! [It’s a] [g]reat way to get used to forming sounds and tones and rhythms on my own while avoiding embarassment at major speech suckage if I tried to converse with real people at this point.”

“Day 15 was when it took a leap in terms of difficulty, well not really difficult, just more activities and fun content…”

Non-SilverSpooners Tell You the Truth Khatz Didn’t Want You To Hear

“…SilverSpoon will lower the mental barriers enough that all of its customers will make the right choices and come out with a level of Japanese that keeps them satisfied.”

“Khatzumoto’s blog is about leading potential language learners to water, but it was still up to them to drink it. I don’t know how many of his readers have achieved fluency, but I know that number is at least one (me!). Now with SilverSpoon, it looks like the customers will be led even closer to water than before.”

“a course at your local community college, a boring course where you’d probably learn the kana, a handful of words, and a bunch of useless grammar, such a course would cost you MULTIPLE TIMES what SilverSpooners are paying Khatz for this new service”

    Sounds good.

I’m hoping someone drops out so I can join up or some more slots open.

Meh, I’ve been eating from the bronze spoon for 9 years and it worked just the same. I’m glad I switched over to my own hand-picked gold spoon though.

When I am living in Japan and speaking with other students and studying many subjects in Japanese, and living, breathing, and pooping Japanese, then I’ll get the platinum spoon!

More places are needed! Hell, Just call it the ‘Silverspoon latecomer its more expensive’ place and charge 5$ a day or something, I’d still pay that to jump on board.

ahhh it sounds great. But I haven’t given up on myself yet. Maybe I’ll join in in a couple of months if I feel like I’m not progressing fast enough

I’ve got a straw with which I leisurely sip my Japanese blend smoothie with. Silver spoon is great, but it’s not for me.

SilverSpoon seems great, but it is just not for me. I’ve been going hard (Sadly, there have been days without learning, still reviewed and immersed) And i am proud with my progress. A mere 2 months ago i couldn’t understand any spoken japanese and now i am up to understanding 30-50% of an Anime.

Plus, i think it will be valuable if i do this myself, never have been so committed before/

I kinda wanna join this just to see the learning process and how Khatz is doing it, but knowing that a) I’m far enough along now that I don’t really NEED to and b) there are people that want in a lot more than I do, I’ll probably pass.

Having said that, if the info given can apply to Mandarin, or if a Mandarin edition will come in the future… I think I’ll be in at some point, probably after I graduate. I’ve loved doing Japanese the AJATT way but I’ve definitely been SLOW with it. Gotta hone my mental faculties and drop English more I think, where I can (this has been very easy in Japan, not quite so (mentally) easy before I came here).

Is silverspoon available for languages other than Japanese? I’m learning mandarin, and am interested if it’s available.

I’m not sure if I should use silver spoon or not. I am VERY lazy so maybe it would be good to try but I would feel bad if I had to quit and get a refund because it wasn’t really working for me.

Still don’t get why it is limited to like 7 slots. The only reason I can think of why it would be so limited is if you actually spend a significant amount of one-on-one time instructing people. If it is simply a daily email thingy that tells you what to do, then why so limited?
