AJATT: Accept No Subsitutes?

So if you want to read this website but green and orange are starting to bore you, then consider reading it in blue over here.

That’s right, folks. Original and plagiarized quite without my permission and proudly in violation of copyright. And it’s all there. But in blue. And sidebar on the left hand side. Perfect for that “change of pace” — rather like when you rearrange your bedroom…with furniture stolen from someone else.

Please feel free to visit them and give them feedback. Topics might include “how copying and pasting the text from AJATT but with a blue theme, is a step up”. I am open to other ideas as well.

(Many thanks to Damien of Anki for saving the day by finding the plagiarized site, and then giving me a phone call to help calm me down 🙂 ).

Man, right down to the little image asking for donations.

It makes you want to be angry, but it’s really sad how small of a person they are that they have to just copy someone else’s work and try to pull it off as their own. You’ve gotta be a small, small person to do that. Tiny. Practically non-existent. Like if scientists found that nano-particles had nano-particles of their own; that sort of small. If you were that small, you’d probably do anything just to make people know you exist, you know?

    Hah, he disabled comments.

Btw Khatz, you’re probably fuming at that site, but you haven’t updated the Anki link, just take your time. 🙂

“Oh, it’s already down. Stupid git must have taken it down.”

Hah, but not before I, together with a number of others, had posted some mocking comments 🙂

Don’t suppose anyone got screenshots of the offending site?

Thanks, Khatz! I was really curious about that site. After all, if it weren’t for the exact copy of your articles I think it would be a great site helping diffuse(?) the method. The author did create some original content but unfortunately for him the major part had been created by you. Once again, thanks for the screenshots. You could even take some ideas from there, what do you think? 😀

Have been reading the updates for a while and I’m sold! Have spent the last few weeks on Heisig’s method, pushed past 1,000 more easily than imagined, and am excited to get ’em all done soon. Residing in Japan is also quite helpful, as I’m able to glance at signs and have a sometimes good, sometimes vague, idea of what I’m seeing. And even without the ability to “read the sounds” of the kanji, let me say how immensely helpful it was to simply understand that where I might have wanted to park the other night was “special use parking” and subject to nastiness. 😮 So to Khatzumoto, and all the others giving their good input, thanks!

    ASIDE:
Stepping away from the praise and goodness for a while, I was amazed to read that someone would be silly enough to even attempt a “reformation” of this site. I mean the AJATT idea itself is so novel…. Anyway, some independent research of my own revealed that this “Maki” character seems to be a no more than a bored 17 year-old punk. I won’t tell you exactly how I went about it, because I don’t like the idea of coming off as a vigilante, but it’s the internet…it’s not hard to find things.

It’s a damn shame the guy was ripping off AJATT. If it was presented as an archive of sorts, and kept donation and amazon links going to you, I probably would’ve changed my homepage to that just for that layout.

Honestly, I’m not really feeling the green and orange. Any chance of a new layout? Possibly one selectable by users (with color info stored using cookies or something)?

This is the color layout I use on another site, and I find it extremely easy on the eyes.

What sent me nuts was the fact that she took the time to “design” even the little donation icon exactly like yours. Man, that site was kind of sad…

Anyway Khatz, your drawings are way better 😉

  13. January 27, 2008 at 18:14

Wow, that is much nicer on the eyes, at least!

  14. January 27, 2008 at 20:11

I wonder if “Maki” and “Joyce” are related?

I’ve been procrastinating too. At least we have a week off. I haven’t had one in January since 3 years ago. So I’d better clean too.

They might not be the same person, but they are related.

Apparently Maki is the host of the site?

“This site is happily hosted by Maki (arenzi.net) and should be viewable in any browser and any resolution. I mainly use this page to blog (of course) and also to share my ideas, random life stories, and advice to anyone who wants to read them.”

“Piracy Haters Need To Stop Being Suckups”

…seems to me that the activity seems to fall right in line with her philosophy. Shame.

Khatzumoto, let me reiterate how awesome your inspirational advice is; I’d want to steal it, too. 😉

lmao I have a sense of deja vu.

That was just a copypasta job. Not as good as the original mind

I actually prefer the green and orange to the blue 😛

Seriously, I’m in love with the site design.

This really shows how low people can be sometimes. I mean the whole ajatt thing, originally, is not about personal profit, its about how Khatz decided to share with the others a set of methods and tools he gathered and worked with to achieve a goal. He could have kept it for himself, but doing so is not doing justice to Japanese, with all the misconceptions and myths about this “impossible” language. The method is not even for profit, one can achieve fluency without even buying any of the premium/plus materials that are there for conveninence. The blog is for the purpose of sharing, discussing and (self)improving, and it is great for this purpose. Thanks to Tkyosam’s video, I discovered this unique blog. And thanks to rules of nature its uniqueness is not endangered by plagiarism.
