SilverSpoon Round 10

[Update: 2011/8/2@0110 JST: SilverSpoon Round 10 has ended! But hope survives! Keep your eyes open for Round 11. I don’t know when exactly that’ll be, but…someday 😛 ]

What Is SilverSpoon? ← Go here if you’ve forgotten what all SilverSpoon is

Hey gang,

Pack an umbrella, some adult diapers and a spare pair of panties, because it’s about to start raining awesome.

No? Too belabored? Whatever. Screw you!

No, don’t screw you. No, I didn’t mean that. I care about you. Hey…no, please don’t call the police. No, I’ve never seen your panties. Look…

Anyway, yes. SilverSpoon. The only program in the history of Japanese that has the guts and the goods to guarantee and deliver what you deserve: fluency in 595 days. It’s here. It’s real. It’s happening.

SilverSpoon has been hard to get into. This time around, it’s easier. You don’t have to be on the waiting list; you don’t have to give me a kidney; you don’t have to be lighting fast you just have to be on time.

Thus, let it be know throughout the land that, due to popular demand, on August 1, for a glorious 24 hours, you too can get into SilverSpoon.

Just so you know:

  • The price may rise partway during the 24 hours
  • The first 20 people to join up in this round get a free AJATT+ trial membership.

Here in AJATTland, where all the deals are sweet, the sweetest of the sweet deals always goes to the early adopters. So, stay awake. Stay alive. Act fast and get in while you can, ’cause who knows when the next round will be. I certainly don’t.

One more thing. While the time is limited to 24 hours, there are no hard headcount limits on this round and I’m glad to have more people coming on board. However, maintaining the quality of the SilverSpoon experience is paramount. We run a tight ship, full of smart and willing (if disorganized and low-confidence 😛 ) people who are in it to win it. So, from this round forward, anyone can still get a refund for any reason (that’s the SilverSpoon Fo’ Shizzle Fluency Guarantee) but…that refund will only be processed after Day 595 for that person, regardless of when s/he cancels. Again, there are three major reasons for this:

  1. To give me time to skip the country with your money and head to my secret villa in Panama with my concubine 1, Esmeralda. What, I never told you about her? Two words: h ot.
  2. To discourage casual visitors and passers-by from clogging the system with their…casualness and endless billing processing requests. We’re not here to fool around; we’re here to fool around with Japanese.
  3. To encourage people to be mentally prepared to play this game right through to the fourth quarter. In it to win it, remember? We’re breaking the pots and sinking the ships; we’re taking the option of quitting off the table until the end of the game. You can quit when you’re fluent. No more three-day-monking. Or, if we are three-day-monking, we’re doing it 199 times straight.

Stop wasting your precious time and money getting screwed around by “Japanese schools” that hate you, French-sounding names and multilingual North African tablets that lack a clue and the cojones to get you anywhere any time soon. Verily,  I’m a greedy, arrogant, self-centered jerk. But I’m the greedy, arrogant self-centered jerk who’s going to take you to Japanese fluency. Come. Let’s get serious and screw around properly.

See you soon at the ‘Spoon,

Khatz

PS: All times are Japan Standard Time.

Notes:

  1. I don’t even know what this word actually means, but it definitely sounds lewd. Plus, the “hookers and XYZ” line was getting old

I truly wish I had the money to get that full package, I’m on the brink of getting that mythical thing known as a job (No small feat in my area) but my first paycheck would be after the date. ORZ I do hope you have another opening like this not too too far down the line so I can hop on that then! (and trust me I will)

Kind of conflicted on this one. On the one hand I’m only 300 kanji away from finishing Heisig and I have a spiffin’ paper-based timegrid that ensures I’ll keep on track, so I’m a bit of a poor fit for this. On the other hand, my listening immersion is a mess and I wouldn’t mind outsourcing that part of my scheduling.

As I understand it, you are only selling the full 18-month package this time? For whatever price between 1 and 2 grand it ends up being?

Right. There’s a post-RTK version in the works (for people who’ve already been through RTK1 and know kana). You’d best wait for that to come out. Sounds like it would be a better fit for you.

When will that be available? I want to do this but am also finished RTK1 already.

I was once a member of Silver Spoon but because I had to move somewhere without internet access, I canceled the reoccurring on paypal. Is there a way to pay to add more days on my account or will I have to resign up on round 10?

So…I assume this is making money since you’re up to round 10 now. Cool!

I am…far too cheap for this. Additionally, I’m making my way through the Kanji at my typical snail’s pace, and feel confident that, although it will take me longer than, uh, everyone else, I’ll finally get this Japanese thing down on my own.

…glad to see you making money, though! 😀

I’m seriously tempted to sign up for this. But before I do, is there any chance you could get someone who is doing SS (who is quite far in the program, maybe like 200 days?) to write a little post about what they’ve learnt, impressions, general idea of what they’re doing, etc?

    • July 31, 2011 at 01:07

I found someone blogging about SS, but they aren’t too far into it and aren’t consistent with their posts. Might be worth a look. I’ll post more if I find them. And I’ll be posting about it on my blog as well.

Ok, just realized that Khatz mentioned this in his most recent post. Just ignore me. Move along, nothing to see here.

I’ll see if I can knock something like this out today. Is there anything in particular you’d like me to focus on?

As much as it costs, I’ve spent more already and gotten nowhere. I want fluency. Can you make the countdown clock go faster? Pleeeeeeeeeease?

Signing up as soon as it’s available. No hesitation.

God, I really want this but everytime it comes around neither I nor my aunt have any money. >_>

Sorry, Khatz, but you were advertising it with an old link at $1 a day. I can’t pay more than that. Good luck to those that can.

I was hoping for a buck a day also, as it is I simply can’t afford it.

    Hi

I’m confused about each option plan.

If I sign up for the monthly option, and I decide that I’d rather pay for the Full package, can I change my plan afterwards?

If I try either the daily or monthly plan for a few days and decide it’s not for me, I ask for a cancellation, will I not get a refund until after 1.5 years??

    Thanks!

      >can I change my plan afterwards?
      You can

      >If I try either the daily or monthly plan for a few days and decide it’s not for me, I ask for a cancellation, will I not get a refund until after 1.5 years??
That is correct. So, if you’re on the fence, I’d recommend holding off on joining for now and waiting for whatever round is running when you’re feeling more certain 😀 .

How many hours daily does SS take? Is it possible to do it for a busy (and I mean it) university student? By daily hours I mean those hours that you’re only learning japanese, not hours spent doing something else with japanese immersion (because I suppose number of the latter would be around 24 😉 ).

This is confusing but I really wanna join. haha
