- The Prime Directive: Have fun.
- The Promise: Suck less. I will not suck any more today than I did yesterday. I will not suck any more tomorrow than I do today. Every day, I will suck less. All while keeping law # 1.
- The Path: Start often. Do little, often. Start more times than you stop. All while keeping the other laws.
If you take nothing else from this website, and I mean it this time, if you take nothing else…take these.
Great leader,
Your words are a blessing to mortals like myself everywhere.

Sounds a bit like the three laws of learning, in general.
#3 is truth!
I got one of those newfangled i-devices so I could SRS whenever I have a few seconds free. Doing 60 seconds every hour is turning out to be far more productive than doing 30 minutes every day.
Sounds good to me! Now to put it into practice…
Good advice. Let me offer my three conditions for success in language learning.
1) Your attitude: confidence, interest, affection for the language, desire to join in with speakers of the language, acceptance without asking “why do they say it this way?” etc.
2) Time spent : Study every day and take it with you to fill in the dead times. The more time you spend, in short spurts of long stretches, the better.
3) Ability to notice: Notice the sounds, the words, the structure, notice your gaps and look for them when you listen and read.
Cheers.
